Passport

All travelers to Kalimantan – the Indonesian Borneo must hold a passport for at least six months after arrival with onward/return tickets as a proven. Effective of 1st of February, 2004 The Indonesian Minister of Justice and Human Rights has announced that the Visa on Arrival introduced for foreign visitors arriving by Air at the airport should pay the entry fee upon arrival.


VISA
Visa on Arrival (VoA) is required for National of countries and one administrative Districts :

Argentine, Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Bulgaria, Brasilia, Cambodia, Canada, Cyprus, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greek, Hungary, India, Iran, Ireland, Islandia, Italy, Japan, Lao PDR, Liechtenstein, Luxemburg, Maldives, Malta, Mexico, Monaco Nederland, New Zealand, Norway, Oman, People's Republic of China, Poland, Portugal, Qatar  Kuwait, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Suriname, Sweden, Switzerland  Taiwan, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States of America, Aljazair, Tunisia Romania, Lithuania, Panama, Libya, Latvia, Czech, Slovakia, Fiji, Slovenia

Visa On Arrival Rates are 7 days : US$ 10   30 days : US$ 25

The 11 Countries that retain visa Free status and need not purchase a VoA are : Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, The Philippines, Hong Kong , Macao, Chile, Morocco, Peru and Vietnam.

 

CITIZEN OF COUNTRIES NOT ON THE VoA OR FREE VISA LIST ARE REQUIRED TO APPLY FOR A VISA AT THE NEAREST INDONESIA EMBASSY, CONSULATE OR FOREIGN MISSION.

 

Visa on Arrival is not extendable and not convertible into other types of visa.

 

International Airlines Link

Silk Air has a direct international flight from Singapore to Balikpapan, at everyday. Meanwhile the major international airlines such as Singapore Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Cathay Pacific, KLM, Qantas and many others mostly arrive in Jakarta or Bali as the arrival base to connect to the main city in Kalimantan with domestic carriers.

 

Airport Tax

Airport Tax for International Departure is levied by the airport authority while international tickets used for domestic flights should also pay the airport tax from Rp. 25.000 – 100.000 depends on airport category.

 

Climate
Kalimantan has warm tropical climate with wet and dry seasons lasting approximately six months each, but now the climate is radically change , dry season is longer then wet season, the dry from APRIL to NOVEMBER is the best time to visit.  

 

Customs
It is allow on entry a maximum of two litters of alcoholic beverages, 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars or 100 grams of tobacco and a reliable amount of perfume per adult. Photographic equipment, typewriter, radio are admitted provided. They are taken out on departure.

 

Currency and Exchange

Main foreign currencies are exchangeable at the bank or at money Changer in major cities. While credit card is also acceptable at big stores such as Department store which is now very common. Additional administration fee sometimes should be added for every transaction around 2-3 percents.

 

Office Hours

Business hours are from 08:00 am to 05:00 pm. Government office is 08:00 am – 04:00 pm from Monday to Friday.

 

Electricity
Most hotels use 220 volts. An outlet for shaving equipment is both 220 and 110 voltage.
